Discover Vilnius Through Food
Veltrworks UAB brings you authentic walking experiences through Old Town's finest cheese shops, craft bakeries, and hidden tasting rooms.
Our Story
How We Started
We're veltrworks UAB, and we've been creating food tasting walks through Vilnius since 2023.
It started simply. We noticed that visitors wanted more than typical tours. They wanted to taste real food, meet the people making it, and understand the craft behind traditional Lithuanian cheese and pastries. So that's what we built.
Every walk we design focuses on the details that matter. We don't just point at a building. We take you inside working bakeries where the pastry dough was mixed that morning. We introduce you to cheese makers who've been perfecting their craft for years. You'll walk through Old Town's narrow streets, but you'll do it tasting something at nearly every stop.
The guides aren't reading from scripts. They're passionate about local food and genuinely excited to share what they know. Whether it's explaining why certain cheeses taste different depending on the season, or showing you the traditional techniques that bakeries still use today — they're there to answer questions and let the experience unfold naturally.
What We Know
Our focus areas, built through years of exploring Old Town's food culture and building relationships with local producers.
Local Cheese Routes
We've mapped the best cheese producers in Old Town. From aged varieties to fresh artisanal creations, each route tells a story about Lithuanian dairy traditions and modern craftsmanship.
Craft Bakeries
We know which bakeries are still baking by hand, which ones use traditional recipes passed down through generations, and which seasonal pastries are worth planning your walk around.
Navigation & Access
Old Town's layout can be confusing, but we've tested every route. We know the best paths, where to rest, transport connections, and how to make the experience comfortable for different fitness levels.
Seasonal Offerings
Food changes with seasons. We track what's best to eat now, which producers are in their peak season, and which walks are ideal for different times of year.
How We Work
Our process ensures every walk is practical, informative, and genuinely enjoyable. Here's what goes into each experience.
Research & Relationships
We don't create walks based on what we think sounds good. We spend time in each location, taste the products, meet the makers, and understand what they're proud of. These relationships mean our guides get insider knowledge that typical tourism content doesn't have.
Route Testing
Every walk is tested multiple times before we publish it. We walk it in different seasons, different weather, at different times of day. We time the distances, identify rest spots, and make sure the progression makes sense from a tasting perspective.
Clear, Practical Guides
We write guides focused on what actually matters. Route length, surface types, rest points, opening hours, transport options, what to bring. You'll get specific details, not vague descriptions. Plus real information about what you're tasting and why it matters.
Regular Updates
Businesses change. Seasons shift. Producers sometimes update their offerings. We revisit our guides regularly to keep information current. If something changes, we update it. If a place closes, we find the next good option.
What Guides Our Work
These principles shape how we create content and what we prioritize in every walk we design.
-
Authenticity
Real places, real producers, real food. We're not interested in tourist traps. We show you where locals actually go and what they actually eat.
-
Learning
Every walk teaches something. You'll understand cheese aging, pastry techniques, and why Old Town's food culture matters. Food becomes more interesting when you know the story.
-
Accessibility
Walks should work for different fitness levels and abilities. We provide clear information so you can choose routes that fit your pace. We're honest about difficulty and distances.
-
Clarity
No vague descriptions. You'll get specific details: route length in kilometers, how long it takes, what surfaces you'll walk on, exact opening hours, costs to expect.
-
Community
We're not just about tourism. We support local producers by bringing people to their doors. We believe good food walks benefit the whole community.
-
Growth
We're always learning. We revisit routes, add new discoveries, and improve our guides based on feedback and seasonal changes. What we offer gets better over time.
