Vilnius Food Walks Editorial Team
Researching and documenting the craft behind Vilnius Old Town's food makers
Who We Are
How We Work
We're not food critics or celebrity chefs. We're a team that visits local cheese makers, bakeries, and food producers in Vilnius Old Town — talking with artisans, tasting what they make, and understanding the craft behind it. Then we write clear guides that help visitors find these places and know what to expect when they arrive.
Every detail gets checked on the ground. We verify routes, opening hours, what's actually in stock on different days, and the real stories behind the food. When things change — a baker switches suppliers, a cheesemaker adjusts their hours, new producers open — we update the guides. No exaggeration. No promotional language. Just honest descriptions of what exists and why it's worth visiting.
Our goal is straightforward: connect curious people with real makers doing interesting work. One neighborhood at a time.
Our Method
How Each Guide Gets Made
Research on the Ground
We walk the routes ourselves, visiting producers, noting details about location, opening hours, what's available, and the craft behind what they make. We talk with makers about ingredients, techniques, and history.
Verify Everything
Details get checked multiple times. We confirm routes are accurate, contact information is current, and seasonal changes are noted. If something's closed or moved, we find out before publishing.
Regular Updates
Content gets reviewed seasonally and whenever we visit locations again. If producers change their hours, move, or shift what they offer, we update the guides. Old information doesn't help anyone.
What We Cover
Focus Areas
Local Cheese Makers
We document cheesemakers in and around Old Town — their techniques, the milk they source, aging processes, and how to taste the differences between their products. We've walked routes through neighborhoods where you can visit multiple makers in one afternoon, learning how each approaches their craft differently.
Craft Bakeries and Pastry Artisans
Bakeries worth visiting aren't hard to find if you know where to look. We've documented which ones bake fresh daily, which focus on traditional recipes, and what seasonal pastries appear when. We include opening hours that actually match reality and tips about what to order if you're visiting for the first time.
Our Values
Why You Can Trust This Content
On-Site Verification
We don't write about places we haven't visited. Routes, distances, and details come from actually walking them. When opening hours change, we know because we've been there recently.
Honest Descriptions
We describe what's actually there, not what sounds impressive. If a bakery is small and crowded on weekends, we say so. If cheese isn't available year-round, we note when it's made.
Regular Updates
Content doesn't stay static. We revisit locations, check for changes, and update guides when things shift. Seasonal changes, new producers, and closures all get reflected in our writing.
Direct Conversations
We talk with makers about their work — their ingredients, their process, why they do things a certain way. These conversations help us write descriptions that actually mean something.
